| Effect of Angelica Antipruritic Mixture in the treatment of blood deficiency and wind dryness type of senile pruritus |

Abstract Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of Angelica Antipruritic Mixture in the treatment of blood deficiency and wind dryness type of senile skin pruritus. Methods From November 2017 to March 2018, 78 cases with senile pruritus in Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were divided into control group and treatment group according to the random number table method, with 39 cases in each group. Control group was treated with Cetirizine Hydrochloride and Urea Cream, and treatment group was treated with Angelica Antipruritic Mixture and Urea Cream. The treatment duration of both groups were 4 weeks. Visual analogue score (VAS), scratch marks (SM), percentage of nighttime itch time (PIT), skin hydration (SH), lipid content (LC) and sleep, constipation, dry mouth were compared. Resluts VAS, SM, PIT, SH, LC, sleep, constipation and dry mouth scores were compared between two groups before treatment, the differences were no statistically significant (all P > 0.05). After treatment, SM, PIT, SH, LC, constipation and dry mouth scores of treatment group were lower than those of control group, VAS score of treatment group was higher than that of control group, the differences were statistically significant (all P < 0.05). Sleep score of treatment group was higher than that of control group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Angelica Antipruritic Mixture has a good clinical effect in the treatment of blood deficiency and wind dryness type of senile skin pruritus. It can effectively reduce the symptoms of itching, enhance SH and LC, sleep and life condition, with no obvious adverse reactions.
