Abstract Perianal abscess is a common disease in anorectal surgery, with a high incidence rate. It is mainly treated with surgery, but the incidence of postoperative abscess recurrence and anal fistula formation is high, which greatly affects the quality of life of patients. Postoperative routine use of antibacterial drugs to promote rehabilitation and prevent complications, but the efficacy reported in various studies is uneven, and there is no consensus on the use of antibacterial drugs after perianal abscess operative at home and abroad. As anti-infective treatment of antibacterial drugs has gradually failed, research on the application of traditional Chinese medicine after surgical treatment of perianal abscess has emerged in recent years. This article summarizes the progress in the diagnosis and treatment of perianal abscess in the past 5 years.
