| Analysis of one case of misdiagnosed eosinophilic gastroenteritis |

Abstract Eosinophilic gastroenteritis (EG) is a rare intestinal inflammatory disease in clinic. Because of its lack of specificity in clinical manifestations, the misdiagnosis rate of EG is very high. This paper reports a case of EG in Outpatient Department of Hepatobiliary and Gastroenterology of Dongfang Hospital in Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine （hereinafter referred to as "our hospital"） in 2017. Because of abdominal pain and purulent stool, combined with colonoscopic edema, congestion and ulcer, the patient is considered as ulcerative colitis in the early stage. However, the therapeutic effect is not good. The patient′s symptoms are alleviated after re-examination of colonoscopy and pathological examination in our hospital and re-diagnosis of EG. In order to improve the understanding of EG, the relevant literature is reviewed and the differential points between two diseases are analyzed. Colonoscopy and pathological examination are particularly important in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of the two diseases.
