Abstract Objective To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of moxibustion in the treatment of senile frequent micturition symptoms using evidence-based medical method, and to provide evidence-based basis for the care and treatment of frequent micturition in middle-aged and elderly patients. Methods The literatures on moxibustion treatment of frequent micturition in databases PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Medline, ScienceDirect and China Biomedical Literature Database, China Knowledge Network, Wanfang Database, Weipu Database for evaluation were searched by computers. The search was conducted until March 1, 2019, and the research type included in the paper was a randomized controlled trial. The observation indicators included urination times, quality of life, urinary tract symptoms, corresponding tradition Chinese medicine symptoms, or curative effect analysis. Descriptive analysis was used for the intervention methods, acupoint selection and observation indications of the study. Results Seven trials were included, containing 494 participants. The results showed that moxibustion could significantly improve urinary tract symptoms in middle-aged and elderly patients, while reduce urination frequency. Conclusion Moxibustion in the treatment of middle-aged and elderly patients with the symptom of frequent micturition is effective, with less adverse reactions. However, it need sufficient quality and large sample information to further verify.
