Abstract The radial styloid tenosynovitis is a chronic non-specific inflammatory, which local pain and limited wrist movement are mainly clinical features. It seriously affects patients′ live quality. The pathogenesis of this disease is complex, and there is no better treatment strategy. Recently, extracorporeal shock wave (ESW) is a new physical therapy in this disease, which is non-invasion, simple operation, safe and cheap and so on, and is being gradually applied to the radial styloid stenosing tenosynovitis. In this research, the pathogenesis of radial styloid stenosing tenosynovitis, research progress of ESW and treatment of stenosing tenosynovitis of the radial styloid wave were reviewed.
