Efficacy and safety of low temperature plasma ablation cervical dorsal rami nerve in the treatment of cervicogenic headache |

Abstract Objective To investigate the clinical effect of low temperature plasma ablation on cervical headache (CEH). Methods A total of 40 patients with cervical headache who were admitted to the Pain Management Department of Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University from July 2017 to January 2018 were selected, low temperature plasma ablation of posterior cervical nerve was performed. Visual analogue scale (VAS) and clinical efficacy were used before and after treatment, the pain scores before and after treatment and clinical effects were compared, and the adverse reactions were observed. Results VAS scores at 1 day, 1 week, 1 month and 3 months after operation were lower than those before operation (all P < 0.05), the total effective rate were 92.5%, 95.0%, 95.0% and 87.5% at 1 day, 1 week, 1 month and 3 months after the operation, respectively, there was no statistically significant difference in the total effective rate at all time points (P > 0.05). Postoperative numbness occurred in 6 cases, tinnitus in 1 case, and no serious adverse reactions were found in the others. Conclusion Low temperature plasma ablation of the posterior branch of cervical nerve is an effective method to treat cervical headache with significant effect and no serious adverse reactions.
