Meta analysis of the association between MTHFR gene polymorphisms and cervical cancer |

Abstract Objective To analyze the relationship between 5,10-Methyleneterahydrofolate reductase gene polymorphisms (MTHFR A1298C) and cervical cancer in order to provide reliable data for better prevention and treatment of cervical cancer. Methods Database of Wanfang, CNKI and PubMed were searched from the time of building database to November 12, 2018, and a total of 7 articles about the relationship between MTHFR gene (A1298C) polymorphisms and cervical cancer were included in this Meta-analysis, including 823 cases and 1607 controls. The odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were calculated and to assess the associations, meanwhile, the sensitivity and publication bias were analyzed. Results There were significance associations in the comparison C vs. A (OR = 1.11, 95%CI: 1.02-1.22, P = 0.015), AC vs. AA (OR = 1.24, 95%CI: 1.02-1.52, P = 0.030) and (CC+AC) vs. AA (OR = 1.15, 95%CI: 1.03-1.29, P = 0.013). Conclusion MTHFR (A1298C) gene polymorphisms may increase the risk for cervical cancer.
