Influencing factors of delayed cure after microvascular decompression for hemifacial spasm |

Abstract Objective To investigate the influencing factors of delayed cure of hemifacial spasm (HFS) after microvascular decompression (MVD). Methods A total of 598 patients with HFS who underwent MVD surgery at the Guangdong Second People′s Hospital from January 2013 to December 2016 were enrolled. Among them, 97 cases of delayed cure were recorded as observation group. And 501 cases who were cured immediately recorded as control group. The general data of the two groups were compared and the risk factors of delayed cure was analyzed by Logistic regression analysis. Results The proportion of course of disease ≥5 years, and the long-term use of Carbamazepine, botulinum toxin and composite vascular compression in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05). There were no significant difference in gender, age and other data between the two groups (P > 0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that the course of disease and intraoperative vascular compression were the risk factors for delayed cure (OR = 1.364, 2.551, P < 0.05). Conclusion The main influencing factors of the delayed cure after MVD in HFS patients include the course of disease and the degree of intraoperative vascular compression.
