Abstract Objective To establish a method for the determination of p-hydroxycinnamic in Duchesnea indica (Andr.) by HPLC. Methods Ultimate XB-C18(250 mm×4.6 mm, 5 μm) column was used as the column, acetonitrile-0.2% acetic acid solution (14∶86) was used as the mobile phase of the isocratic elution, with the detection wavelength of 300 nm and the flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. The column temperature maintained at 30℃. Results The concentration of hydroxycinnamic acid in the range of 0.413-26.450 μg/mL showed a good linear relationship with the peak area, with the equation of linear regression of Y=72.592X +1.1304 (r = 0.9999 ). The average recovery rate was 103.52% (RSD = 2.61%). The average content of p-hydroxycinnamic acid in 3 batches of Duchesnea indica (Andr.) determined was 0.11, 0.10 and 0.05 mg/g, respectively. Conclusion The method is convenient and rapid, and has good separation effect, high sensitivity and good repeatability. It can be used for quality control of Duchesnea indica (Andr.).
