Study on relationship between abnormality of blood lipid level and liver metastasis of colorectal |

Abstract Objective To investigate the relationship between colorectal cancer patients with liver metastases and abnormal blood lipid levels. Methods From June 2008 to March 2016, in Department of General Surgery and Department of Anorectal Surgery, Chinese Medicine Hospital of Baoji City, the clinical data of 336 patients with colorectal cancer were analyzed retrospectively. They were divided into coloractal cancer with liver metastases group (52 cases) and colorectal cancer without liver metastases group (284 cases). The clinical data and initial blood lipid levels of colorectal cancer were analyzed and compared, the relationship of colorectal cancer with liver metastases patients and lipid levels, abnormal blood lipids was analyzed statistically. Results There were statistically significant differences in the depth of tumor invasion, regional lymph node metastasis and tumor differentiation degree between the two groups (P < 0.05). There was no statistically significant differences in the primary CEA level between the two groups (P > 0.05). The blood lipid levels of colorectal cancer with liver metastases group were higher than the colorectal cancer without liver metastases group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that hypertriglyceridemia and hypercholesterolemia were both independent risk factors with liver metastasis in colorectal cancer (P < 0.05), but it had no association with high density lipoprotein and low density lipoprotein (P > 0.05). Conclusion High cholesterol and high triglyceride levels may promote liver metastasis in colorectal cancer.
