Abstract The detection of homocysteine is more widely applied in clinic. Hyperhomocysteinemia is not only an independent risk factor for stroke, but also associates with adverse pregnancy outcomes, childhood diseases and elderly cardiovascular diseases. However, the level of homocysteine in healthy people varies by gender, age and physiological status. This article determines the abnormal homocysteine level for diagnose of hyperhomocysteinemia in different popu?鄄lations by a review on homocysteine levels in different groups.
