Abstract This article studied the general approaches of the risk management of hospital information system projects, aiming to provide methods of risk management focusing on important links of the process by analysing the domestic and foreign research data. Reference models and management processes of hospital information system project risk management are also put forward to discuss the components and relationship between models and processes. This research provides theoretical basis and reference models of risk management for developing and deploying hospital information system projects of China during the 13th Five-Year Plan period.
