Optimization of extraction process of alkaloids from Lingnan Paotianxiong by response surface method |

Abstract Objective To optimize extraction process of total alkaloids from Lingnan featured pieces Paotianxiong by response surface method. Methods Three-variables as extraction time, ratio of material to solution and ethanol concentration, and three-levels Box-Benhnken experimental design was used to optimize the effects of independent variables on the total alkaloid extraction efficiency. Results The optimum conditions were extraction time 30 min, ratio of material to solution 8.0, and 75% ethanol concentration. Under the optimum conditions, the theoretical total alkaloid extraction rate was 31.1%, and the actual rate was 32.5%. Conclusion Response surface method is an effective methodology to optimize the total alkaloid extraction process of Lingnan featured pieces Paotianxiong.
