Abstract Objective To establish the quality standard of Gouju Capsules. Methods The main ingredients of Ramudus Uncaria Cum Uncis, Epimedium were identified by TLC. Content of icariin was determined by UV-HPLC. The content of the berberine was determined by HPLC; the column of Agilent ZORBAX SB-C18(150 mm×4.6 mm, 5 μm) was used. The mobile phase was ocetonitrile-water (25∶75), the column temperature of 30℃, at the flow of 1.0 mL/min and detection wavelength was 270 nm. Results The spots on TLC plates were distinct, without interference. A good linearity of icariin was in the ranges of 15-150 μg/mL (r=0.9996). The average recovery was 100.9% (RSD =2.77%). Conclusion The results of this experiment are accurate, simple and easy to control. It can be used as a quality standard for Gouju Capsules.
