Effect of additional lateral plate combined with autologous bone transplantation in the treatment of postoperative nonunion of femoral shaft fractures with intramedullary nail fixation |

Abstract Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of additional lateral plate combined with autologous bone transplantation in the treatment of postoperative nonunion of femoral shaft fractures with intramedullary nail fixation. Methods A retrospective study was conducted on the data of 13 cases of bone nonunion after intramedullary nail internal fixation of femoral shaft fractures admitted to the Traumatic Hand Surgery Department of the Nanning Second People′s Hospital from March 2016 to January 2018, to observe the clinical effect of treating patients with additional lateral plates combined with autologous bone transplantation. Results All the 13 patients were followed up for 6 to 26 months, and all femoral shaft fracture ends had bone healing with an average healing time of (5.70±3.52) months. According to the Tohner-Wrnch evaluation criteria, 11 cases were excellent and 2 cases were good. Conclusion Bone nonunion after intramedullary nailing for femoral shaft fractures with additional lateral plate fixation combined with autologous bone transplantation has a good clinical effect.
