Clinical effect of Minocycline Hydrochloride in the treatment of periodontitis |

Abstract Objective To explore the clinical effect of Minocycline Hydrochloride in the treatment of periodontitis. Methods Eighty-eight patients with periodontitis admitted to Department of Stomatology, Chengdu First People′s Hospital from January 2016 to January 2018 were selected, they were divided into study group(47 teeth) and control group(51 teeth) by using hidden digit randomized method, with 44 cases in each group. The two groups were treated with basic treatment, the study group received Minocycline Hydrochloride treatment, the control group received Iodine Glycerol treatment, the therapeutic effects, probing depth (PD), plaque index (PLI), periodontal attachment level (AL), gingival sulcus bleeding index (SBI) and adverse reactions of the two groups were compared. Results Before treatment, there was no significant difference in the levels of PD, PLI, AL and SBI between the two groups (P > 0.05), 2 or 4 weeks after treatment, the levels of PD, PLI, AL and SBI in the study group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05); there were statistically significant differences in the levels of PD, PLI, AL and SBI between the two groups before and after 2, 4 weeks of treatment (P < 0.05). The excellent and good rate in the study group was higher than that in the control group, the incidence of adverse reactions of the study group was lower than that of the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusion Minocycline Hydrochloride is effective in treating periodontitis, with high security. It is worthy of clinical recommendation.
