Effects of testosterone in serum and follicular fluid on pregnancy outcomes of IVF-ET |

Abstract Objective To investigate the effects of estradiol, progesterone and testosterone in serum and follicular fluid on pregnancy outcomes of in vitro fertilization - embryo transfer (IVF-ET). Methods From January to December 2013, 176 patients who received IVF-ET in the Reproductive Center of Hubei Maternal and Child Health Hospital were selected. According to clinical pregnancy outcome, clinical pregnancy group and non-clinical pregnancy group. The levels of estradiol, progesterone and testosterone concrtilization-embryo ttansfer, estradiol, progesterone and testosterone of daily basal serum, HCG daily serum, the serum on the day of ovulation and follicular fluid of two groups were detected. Results The levels of estradiol and testosterone in HCG daily serum in the clinical pregnancy group were higher than that in the non-clinical pregnancy group, and the differences were significant (P < 0.05). The concentration of testosterone in the clinical pregnancy group was higher than that in the non-clinical pregnancy group, and the difference was significant (P < 0.05). The concentration levels of estradiol, progesterone and testosterone in the serum on the day of ovulation were positively correlated with the concentration levels in the follicular fluid (r = 0.236, 0.216, 0.426, P < 0.01). Conclusion The testosterone in follicular fluid can promote the maturation of oocytes and facilitate the clinical pregnancy of IVF-ET.
