Abstract Zhubing Yuanhou Lun is considered as the first theory monograph about etiology and pathogenesis in our country. This paper takes kidney of Zhubing Yuanhou Lun as the starting point to analyze comprehensively and discuss the contents related to physiology, etiology and pathogenesis, therapeutic principle and method, and others of kidney. Moreover, it describes the pathogenesis of syndromes and symptoms of kidney in detail. The purpose of this paper is to explore the academic connotation and the origin of pathogenesis theory of viscera-state doctrine of kidney, thus it can provide a reference for document research and clinical practice of the theory of viscera-state doctrine of kidney.
