Abstract Objective To systematically evaluate the effects of dual task training (DTT) on cognitive function in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Methods Databases in CNKI, Wanfang knowledge service platform, VIP network, Chinese biomedical literature database, PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, nursing database and EMbase database Randomized controlled trials on the effect of DTT intervention on cognitive function in patients with MCI from database establishment to November 2022 were searched. Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4 software. Results A total of 14 articles were included, with a total of 953 patients. The results of meta-analysis showed that DTT could improve the scores of MCI patients on summary mini-mental state examination (SMD=0.71, 95%CI: 0.23 to 1.20, P=0.004) and Montreal cognitive assessment (SMD=1.45, 95%CI: 0.73 to 2.17, P<0.001), cognitive scores on the Alzheimer’s disease assessment scale-cog were reduced (MD=-1.28, 95%CI: -2.06 to -0.49, P=0.002). The Montreal cognitive assessment score funnel plot showed no publication bias. Conclusion DTT can effectively improve the cognitive function of MCI patients, but it needs to be further verified by large samples and high-quality studies.
