Expression of acidic ribosomal phosphoprotein P2 in hepatocellular carcinoma and its influence on prognosis |

Abstract Objective To investigate the expression of acidic ribosomal phosphoprotein P2 (RPLP2) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and its influence on prognosis. Methods The expression of RPLP2 in HCC tissues and its relationship with overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) were analyzed by TCGA database. Cancer tissues and adjacent tissues of 60 HCC patients treated in Yancheng NO.1 People’s Hospital, Jiangsu Province from June 2018 to June 2022 were selected and the expression level of RPLP2 were detected by Western blot. According to the immunohistochemical staining score of RPLP2 in the cancer tissues, the patients were divided into high expression group (51 cases) and low expression group (nine cases). Survival curve and Cox regression model were used to analyze the expression of RPLP2 and its influence on the prognosis of HCC. Results According to the results of database analysis, the expression of RPLP2 in HCC cancer tissues was significantly up-regulated, and the OS and DFS in patients with high RPLP2 expression were shorter than those with low RPLP2 expression, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The expression levels of RPLP2 protein in cancer tissues of 60 HCC patients were higher than those in adjacent tissues, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). OS and DFS in high expression group were shorter than those in low expression group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Cox regression model analysis showed that TNM stage, Barcelona clinical liver cancer stage, Edmondson grade, alpha-fetoprotein, and RPLP2 expression levels were influencing factors for OS and DFS in HCC patients (P<0.05). Conclusion RPLP2 is highly expressed in HCC tissues and is closely related to the clinical prognosis of patients.
