Abstract  Objective To observe the clinical effect of acupoint stimulation combined with breast massage on improving postpartum breast deficiency in caesarean section parturients. Methods From January 2019 to December 2020, 150 parturients who received caesarean section delivery in the Department of Obstetrics, Zibo First Hospital of were included in the study. According to the random number table method, they were divided into the observation group and the control group, with 75 cases in each group. The control group adopted routine postpartum care, while the observation group adopted acupoint stimulation combined with breast massage on the basis of the control group. The scores of milk secretion, traditional Chinese medicine score, and serum prolactin level were compared between the two groups before and after nursing. Neonatal breastfeeding rates and Newcastle nursing satisfaction scale (NSNS) scores were compared between the two groups after discharge. Results Intra-group comparison: there was statistical significance in the score of milk secretion between the two groups at each time point (P<0.05). Inter-group comparison: one, two and three days after intervention, the scores of maternal milk secretion in observation group were higher than those in control group (P<0.05). The scores of breast filling degree, milk siltation degree, and milk viscosity degree in two groups were lower than before intervention, and those in the observation group were lower than control group (P<0.05). After discharge, the neonatal breastfeeding rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). After intervention, the maternal NSNS score in observation group was higher than that in control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Acupoint stimulation combined with breast massage can effectively improve the symptoms of breast deficiency of parturients after cesarean section, improve their breast filling and viscosity, reduce the degree of milk stasis, and improve the rate of breast feeding of newborns.
