Abstract With the acceleration of the pace of life and the change of diet, chronic functional constipation has gradually become a common and frequently occurring disease, which seriously affects people’s daily life, with the highest incidence rate among the middle-aged and elderly. Slow transit constipation is one of the most common types. The occurrence of slow transit constipation is related to intestinal microbiota disorder, and fecal microbiota transplantation, as a new type of microecological preparation mainly composed of gut microbiota, can promote intestinal transportation and alleviate constipation symptoms by changing the quantity, structure, metabolites, and immune regulation of the gut microbiota, while ensuring effectiveness and safety. This article reviews the research progress of fecal bacteria transplantation in the treatment of slow transit constipation.
