Effects of traditional Chinese medicine Kechuan Mixture on lung function, immune function, and serum inflammatory factors in children with phlegm heat regulated lung syndrome and cough |

Abstract Objective To explore the curative effect of traditional Chinese medicine Kechuan Mixture on lung function, immune function, and serum inflammatory factors in children with phlegm heat regulated lung syndrome and cough. Methods A total of 102 children with phlegm heat regulated lung syndrome and cough were selected from the Department of Pediatrics, Wujin Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from October 2019 and October 2022, they were divided into control group and study group by random number table method, with 51 cases in each group. The control group was treated with western medicine, and the study group was treated with traditional Chinese medicine Kechuan Mixture on the basis of control group. The efficacy, lung function, immune function and inflammation level before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The efficacy of the study group was better than that of the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the forced expiratory volume in the one second/forced vital channel and peak expiratory flow of the two groups were higher than before treatment, and the study group was higher than the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, CD3+ and CD4+/CD8+ in both groups were higher than before treatment, and the study group was higher than the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, interleukin-8 and procalcitonin in two groups were lower than before treatment, and the study group was lower than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The traditional Chinese medicine Kechuan Mixture can enhance the therapeutic effect of children with pneumonia, asthma, cough, phlegm heat accumulation in the lungs, and improve lung function, immunity, and inflammation levels.
