Clinical value of B-type natriuretic peptide combined with Tei index for evaluating the cardiac function of patients with alcoholic cirrhosis |

Abstract Objective To investigate the important value of B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) combined with Tei index for evaluating the cardiac function of patients with alcoholic cirrhosis. Methods A total of 73 patients with alcoholic cirrhosis treated in Department of Gastroenterology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Hebei North University from October 2015 to October 2016 were selected and they were divided into compensatory stage group (Child A group with 30 cases) and noncompensatory stage group (Child B group with 23 cases, Child C group with 20 cases) according to Child-Pugh liver function grading standard. Another 25 healthy volunteers were selected as control group. The plasma BNP level were detected by ELISA and were detected by colour ultrasound doppler. Statistics were used in analyzing the Tei index and it was compared among the groups. Results The plasma BNP level in Child B and Child C group were higher than those in Child A and control group, and the plasma BNP level in Child C group was higher than that in the control group, and there were significant differences (P < 0.05). The Tei index of left ventricle and IRT/ET value in Child B and Child C group were higher than those in Child A and control group, and the Tei index of left ventricle and IRT/ET value in Child C group was higher than that in the control group, and all the differences were remarkably significant (P < 0.01). While there was no difference in Tei index of right ventricle and IRT/ET value among all the groups (P > 0.05). There was significantly positive correlation between plasma BNP and left ventricular Tei index in patients with alcoholic liver cirrhosis (r = 0.618, P < 0.01). Conclusion Plasma BNP combined with Tei index could accurately evaluate the changes of cardiac function in patients with alcoholic cirrhosis and provide a scientific reference for clinical treatment.
