Diagnostic value of egg component protein, galactose agglutinin-3 and allergen IgE antibody applied in the diagnosis of children with egg allergy |

Abstract Objective To investigate the value of combined detection of egg component protein, galactose agglutinin-3 and allergen IgE antibody in the diagnosis of egg allergy. Methods Forty-seven patients with food allergy who were screened in West China-Guang′an Hospital, Sichuan University from February 2017 to April 2018 were selected as study group. Another 20 patients without allergie history and negative results venous blood test and egg serum-specific IgE were selected as the control group. Serum egg component protein, galactose agglutinin-3 and allergen IgE antibody were detected in two groups. Results According to anaphase follow-up, there were 42 cases of egg allergy and the others were misdiagnosed in 47 suspected children with egg allergy. The levels of sIgE and total IgE in the study group were higher than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). In the study group, the positive rates of IgE and inhales were 91.49% and 82.98%, respectively. The positive rates of ingestion and inhaled IgE were 70.21%. The OD values of ovalbumin, ovomucoid, otransferrin and lysozyme in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05), and the OD value of the control group was close to the blank hole. The level of galactose agglutinin-3 in the study group was significantly higher than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.05). The sensitivity, accuracy and specificity of egg component protein in the diagnosis of children with egg allergy were 0.905, 0.872, 0.601, respectively. The sensitivity, accuracy and specificity of allergen IgE in the diagnosis of children with egg allergy were 0.929, 0.894, 0.600, respectively. The sensitivity, accuracy and specificity of combined detection of egg allergy were 0.976, 0.957, 0.831, respectively. Conclusion The combined detection of egg component protein, galactose agglutinin-3 and allergen IgE antibody is of high sensitivity, accuracy and specificity in the diagnosis of egg allergy, has high value in clinical application.
