Abstract Vitamin D not only plays a classic physiological role in maintaining calcium and phosphorus balance, but its immune regulatory role in the pathophysiological process of inflammatory bowel disease is also receiving increasing attention. Previous studies have shown that vitamin D deficiency is very common in patients with inflammatory bowel disease, and vitamin D supplementation plays an important role in reducing excessive inflammatory response and improving the prognosis of patients with inflammatory bowel disease. However, there is currently no unified standard for the dosage form, dosage, and supplementation goals of vitamin D supplementation preparations. This review will review recent researches on inflammatory bowel disease and vitamin D, providing clinical reference for supplementing vitamin D in patients with inflammatory bowel disease.
