Abstract Lung cancer is a malignant tumor with a high mortality rate, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounting for over 85% of lung cancer. The treatments for NCSLC mainly include surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy,immunotherapy, and so on. At present, the therapeutic effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy on lung cancer are not satisfactory. Immunotherapy is only effective for specific populations and is prone to drug resistance. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop new NSCLC treatment methods. Autophagy has been reported to be one of the important factors affecting the occurrence and development of NSCLC. This article analyzes the double-edged sword role of autophagy in tumors, reviews the role of autophagy in influencing the efficacy, sensitivity and drug resistance of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy for NSCLC, and provides clues for the development of new treatment strategies for NSCLC and the discovery of new biomarkers.
