| Effect of photon therapy on perianal edema after hemorrhoid surgery |

Abstract Objective To explore the effect of photon therapy on perianal edema after hemorrhoid surgery. Methods A total of 80 patients with mixed hemorrhoids undergoing procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids(PPH) and external hemorrhoidectomy were selected from the Hefei Second People’s Hospital, Anhui Province from January 2020 to December 2021. According to random number table method, they were divided into control group and observation group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine wound disinfection, dressing and nursing, and the observation group was treated with photon therapy on the basis of the control group. Perianal edema, bleeding, pain, wound seepage, wound healing, and hospital stay of the two groups were observed. Results After seven days of intervention, perianal edema, bleeding, pain, and wound seepage scores in both groups were lower than before intervention, while those of observation group were lower than those of control group, and the differences, were statistically significant (P＜0.05); incision healing in the observation group was better than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05); there was no significant difference in hospitalization days between the two groups (P＞0.05). Conclusion Photon therapy can relieve perianal edema and bleeding in patients with hemorrhoids, improve postoperative pain and wound seepage, and promote postoperative incision healing.
