| Application of buccal acupuncture therapy in patients with dysphagia after simultaneous radiochemotherapy of nasopharyngeal carcinoma |

Abstract Objective To explore the application of buccal acupuncture therapy in patients with dysphagia after simultaneous radiochemotherapy of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods A total of 180 patients with dysphagia after simultaneous radiochemotherapy of nasopharyngeal carcinoma admitted in the First Affiliated Hospital of Hunan University of Chinese Medicine from January 2020 to January 2022 were selected and they were divided into rehabilitation group and combination group according to the random number table method, with 90 cases in each group. The rehabilitation group was treated with perioral rehabilitation training, and the combination group was treated with buccal acupuncture on the basis of the rehabilitation group, the treatment lasted for two months. The efficacy and satisfaction of the two groups after two months of treatment were compared, and the gugging swallowing function (GUSS) score and swallowing-quality of life (SWAL-QOL) score in Chinese version of the two groups before and after treatment were compared. Results After two months of treatment, the curative effect of the combination group was better than that of the rehabilitation group (P＜0.05); the GUSS score and SWAL-QOL score in both groups increased compared with before treatment, and the combination group was higher than the rehabilitation group (P＜0.05); the satisfaction of the combination group was higher than that of the rehabilitation group (P＜0.05). Conclusion The effect of buccal acupuncture therapy combined with perioral rehabilitation training on dysphagia patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma after simultaneous radiochemotherapy is better, which can improve the swallowing function and the quality of life, and improve the treatment satisfaction of patients.
