Abstract Objective To analyze the research status, hot spots, and frontier trends of self-perception of aging in recent five years. Methods Relevant literature of self-perception of aging from January 2017 to December 2021 in the Web of Science core collection database was searched, and the CiteSpace 6.1.R3 software was used to make visual analysis of countries, institutions, authors, and key words and reference. Results A total of 845 articles were included in recent five years. The number of publications and citation frequency in this field have shown an overall rising trend. The United States is high-impact countries, and the University of Toronto is the institution which has a large number of publications. The most publications published is author Barnett. Research on the field focuses on the relationship between self-perception of aging and various variables (health, quality of life), study population, literature processing study. The relationship between self-perceived aging and self-efficacy, quality of life, the formulation of intervention programs are the future development trend. Conclusion This study uses the visualization map to intuitively show the hot spots and frontiers of this field, which to provide the reference for further development of the fields in the future.
