Abstract Objective To explore the effects of comorbid attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) on response inhibition and attention function in children with tic disorders (TD), and to provide a new reference for the study of cognitive function in children with TD. Methods A total of 95 children were selected from March to September 2022 from the outpatient Department of Neurology and the Department of Health Care in the Children’s Hospital Capital Institute of Pediatrics. They were divided into simple TD group (47 cases), TD comorbid with ADHD group (19 cases), and normal group (29 cases). All children were tested for event-related potentials N2 and P3a. The amplitude and latency of ERP components N2 and P3a were analyzed by statistics software SPSS 26.0. Results The amplitude of N2 at C3 point in TD+ADHD group was lower than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The P3a amplitude at Pz point in TD+ADHD group was lower than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The P3a amplitude at Oz point in chronic TD group and chronic TD+ADHD group was significantly lower than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Comorbid ADHD can lead to the impairment of response inhibition function in children with TD, and impaired attentional cognitive function exists in children with chronic TD.
