Effect of blasting mode of Nd: YAG laser on posterior capsulotomy |

Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of different neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd: YAG) laser blasting modes on posterior capsulotomy. Methods A total of 59 patients (59 eyes) with posterior capsular opacification in the Affiliated Hospital of Chengde Medical University were selected from December 2017 to December 2019, and they were divided into monopulse group 29 cases and multi-pulse group 30 cases by random number table method. The best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), intraocular pressure (IOP), anterior chamber flash, and anterior chamber cell grade, central macular retinal thickness, and quality of life were compared between the two groups before and after operation. Results BCVA was higher in both groups at one week after operation than that before operation( P<0.05). The IOP between the two groups at different time points was statistically significant(P<0.05). At one week after operation, the grade of anterior chamber flash and anterior chamber cells in both groups were lower than that at one hour after operation(P<0.05). The total energy of Nd: YAG laser in monopulse group was lower than that in multi-pulse group (P<0.05). The central macular retinal thickness between the two groups at different time points was statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion Nd:YAG laser with monopulse mode can save laser energy and reduce intraocular light injury in posterior capsulotomy, which is the first choice in clinic.
