Effect of small incision combined with negative-pressure closed drainage in the treatment of mammary abscess during lactation |

Abstract Objective To observe the clinical effect of small incision combined with negative-pressure closed drainage in the treatment of mammary abscess during lactation, and to provide reference for clinical treatment in primary hospitals. Methods A total of 146 patients with mammary abscess who were hospitalized in Beijing Luhe Hospital, Capital Medical University from June 2021 to June 2022 were selected as the research objects. According to the random odd and even number method, they were divided into observation group and control group, with 73 cases in each group. The control group was treated with small incision and drainage, and observation group was treated with small incision combined with negative-pressure closed drainage. Incision length, wound healing time, and pain score were compared between two groups; postoperative follow-up was three months, the recurrence and continued lactation rate of two groups were observed. Results There was no significant difference in incision length between two groups (P>0.05); the wound healing time of observation group was shorter than that of control group, and numerical rating scale score was lower than that of control group (P<0.05). The recurrence rate of postoperative abscess in observation group was lower than that in control group, and continued lactation rate was higher than that in control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Small incision combined with negative-pressure closed drainage for mammary abscess during lactation can shorten the healing time of patients, reduce the pain of patients, reduce the recurrence of abscess, and enable more patients to continue breastfeeding. The clinical operation is simple and suitable for primary hospitals.
