Abstract Objective To investigate the correlation of Wanger grade with hematocrit (HCT), albumin (ALB), difference of HCT and ALB (|HCT-ALB|) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with diabetic foot. Methods A retrospective analysis was performed on 90 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with diabetic foot admitted to Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Capital Medical University from January 2019 to January 2020, and they were divided into Wagner 1 group (30 cases), Wagner 2-3 group (25 cases), and Wagner 4-5 group (35 cases) according to Wanger grade. Clinical data of the three groups were compared. The correlation between serum levels of HCT, ALB, |HCT-ALB|, and Wanger grade were analyzed. Results The age and duration of type 2 diabetes mellitus in Wagner 2-3 and Wagner 4-5 groups were higher than those in Wagner 1 group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The levels of sodium, hemoglobin, HCT, and ALB in Wagner 4-5 group were lower than those in Wagner1 and Wagner 2-3 groups, and the levels of white blood cell count and C-reactive protein were higher than those in Wagner1 and Wagner 2-3 groups, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The level of C-reactive protein in Wagner 2-3 group was higher than that in Wagner 1 group, and HCT and ALB were lower than those in Wagner 1 group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Wagner grade of type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with diabetic foot was negatively correlated with serum HCT and ALB levels (rs<0, P<0.05), but not with |HCT-ALB| (P>0.05). Conclusion Serum HCT and ALB levels are closely related to Wagner grade of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with diabetic foot, which can provide a reference for evaluating the severity of the disease to a certain extent.
