| Effect of Lifei Decoction on respiratory function and activities of daily living in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease of phlegm dampness accumulating in the lung type |

Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of Lifei Decoction on respiratory function and ability of daily living (ADL) in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD). Methods Eighty patients with AECOPD admitted to Shuyang Hospital Affiliated to Xuzhou Medical University from June 2019 to December 2021 were selected, and they were divided into observation group and control group, with 40 patients in each group. the control group received conventional symptomatic treatment. The observation group added Lifei Decoction on the basis of the control group. The symptom score, clinical efficacy, ADL score, and adverse reaction rate during treatment were compared before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the two traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores were lower than before treatment, and the observation group was lower than the control group (P＜0.05). The clinical effect of the observation group was better than that of the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment, the ADL score of the two groups was higher than those before treatment, and that of the observation group was higher than that of the control group (P＜0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P＞0.05). Conclusion Lifei Decoction has a good effect, and it can significantly improve the symptoms and daily living ability of AECOPD patients.
