Effect of ultrasound-guided ozone injection combined with polarized light irradiation in treatment of plantar fasciitis |

Abstract Objective To observe the clinical effect of ultrasound-guided ozone injection combined with polarized light irradiation in treatment of plantar fasciitis. Methods A total of 90 patients with plantar fasciitis treated in Department of Pain Management, Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University from October 2016 to July 2017 were collected and divided into three groups by random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. Group A was treated with injection therapy of plantar pain point, Group B was treated with the pain point injection + infrared polarized light irradiation, Group C was treated by ultrasound-guided pain point injection + ozone injection+ infrared polarized light irradiation. The pain relief degree and quality of life (QOL) score were compared among the three groups before and after treatment for 1 week, 3 months, 6 months. Results The pain of the three groups was significantly relieved after treatment for 1 week, 3 months, 6 months. After treatment for 1 week, amount of cases with superior effect in Group B and C were larger than that in Group A (P < 0.05). After treatment for 3 months, amount of cure cases in Group C was larger than that in Group A and B, and amount of cases with superior effect in Group B and C were larger than that in Group A (P < 0.05). After treatment for 6 months, amount of cure cases in Group C was larger than that in Group A and B, and amount of cases with superior effect in Group C was larger than that in Group A (P < 0.05). The QOL scores in the three groups after treatment for 1 week, 3 months, 6 months were higher than those before treatment (P < 0.01), and after treatment for 6 months, the QOL score in Group C was higher than that in Group A (P < 0.05). Conclusion Ultrasound-guided ozone injection combined with polarized light irradiation is a safe and effective therapy in treating plantar fasciitis, that is worth of clinical promotion.
