Abstract  Objective To explore the effect of family continuity nursing on the quality of life of patients with oral cancer after operation. Methods A total of 180 patients with oral cancer admitted to Panzhihua Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine of Sichuan Province from May 2018 to April 2021 were selected and divided into intervention group (90 cases) and control group (90 cases) according to random number table method. The control group was given routine follow-up nursing intervention, while the intervention group was given family continuity nursing intervention on basis of the control group. Oral comfort level, family function score, self-management ability, survival quality, and complication rate were compared between the two groups. Results The oral comfort of the intervention group was better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After intervention, family intimacy, and family fitness scores of the two groups were higher than before intervention, while those of the intervention group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After intervention, scores of scientific diet, reasonable exercise, and periodic review in two groups were higher than before intervention, while those of the intervention group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After intervention, the scores of physical function, social function, and emotional function in two groups were higher than before intervention, while those of the intervention group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The total incidence of complications in the intervention group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Application of family continuity nursing in postoperative intervention of patients with oral cancer can improve oral comfort, improve family intimacy and family fitness, enhance self-management ability and quality of life, and reduce the incidence of complications.
