Abstract Objective To compare the contents of the total flavonoids, total saponins, total polysaccharides of Lianhua Qingwen Capsules from different producing areas and to provide reference for its quality evaluation. Methods The determination method of total flavonoids, total saponins, and total polysaccharides in Lianhua Qingwen Capsules was established by ultraviolet visible spectrophotometry, and the contents of 12 batches of Lianhua Qingwen Capsules were determined. Results The linear ranges of total flavonoids, total saponins, and total polysaccharides were 200-1 200 μg/ml (r=0.999 9), 20-200 μg/ml (r=0.999 8), 21.36-85.44 μg/ml(r=0.999 7), respectively; the average recoveries were 97.14%, 100.06%, 96.29%, RSD were 0.90%, 0.82%, 1.53%(n=9), respectively; the average mass fraction of total flavonoids, total saponins, and total polysaccharides in 12 batches of samples were 96.87, 163.20, and 200.00 mg/g, respectively. Conclusion The method is with good precision, repeatability and stability, which can be used as a new means for the quality control of Lianhua Qingwen Capsules.
