Abstract The prevalence of subthreshold depression in college students is much higher than that in the general population, which is easy to be ignored and has serious consequences. Exercise intervention, as an important non-pharmacological treatment, has a good effect on the regulation of depression and other neurological and psychiatric diseases. However, there are few systematic reports on exercise intervention for subthreshold depression in college students. Therefore, in order to better prevent and treat subthreshold depression in college students, this paper makes a comprehensive and systematic collation and review of the current situation and diagnostic tools of subthreshold depression in college students, and the effects and potential biological mechanisms of different exercise paradigms in the intervention of subthreshold depression in college students are analyzed and summarized in order to provide new ideas and theoretical support for further exploration of the prevention and treatment of subthreshold depression in college students.
