Abstract Living traditional knowledge of Chinese medicine is an important part of traditional Chinese medicine. Starting from the significance of protecting living traditional knowledge of Chinese medicine, this paper introduces the protection content and implementation plan of living traditional knowledge of Chinese medicine at this stage and combines the protection of living traditional knowledge of Chinese medicine. It is found that not only the total number of collected items is quite different, but also the collection of different types of items in the same area is also very different. By analyzing the reasons for the discrepancies, put forward common problems encountered in the collection process, and give corresponding countermeasures and suggestions, to provide a reference for the protection and collection of living traditional knowledge of Chinese medicine in the future.
