Abstract  With the change of life style and rhythm, central fatigue has become the main fatigue type of modern people.  In this paper, the etiology, mechanism, animal model, and application of traditional Chinese medicine are analyzed. It is found that the occurrence of central fatigue is related to excessive mental and physical exertion, sleep disorders, and so on. The main mechanism hypotheses include neurotransmitter hypothesis, stress system reaction mechanism hypothesis, immune inflammation mechanism hypothesis, fatigue chain hypothesis, and mitochondrial biosynthesis hypothesis. Animal model construction methods include excessive exercise method, sleep deprivation method, neurotransmitter injection method, immune inflammation method, and genetic engineering method. Syndromes and anti-fatigue agents of traditional Chinese medicine are the focus of research.
