Abstract Objective To evaluate the internal composition and changes of inpatient income of a tertiary general public hospital in Anhui Province from 2017 to 2021, so as to provide data support and reference for public hospitals in Anhui Province to further optimize the structure of medical income. Methods The inpatient income statements of a tertiary comprehensive public hospital in Anhui Province from 2017 to 2021 were extracted and evaluated by grey correlation and structural variation analysis. Results The results of grey correlation analysis showed that the correlation degree of laboratory, material, and examination income to total inpatient income was 0.901, 0.894, and 0.842, respectively. The analysis results of structural variation showed that the total structural variation of inpatient income of the hospital was 12.566%. The biggest change was in drug income (-2.911), and examination and laboratory income showed positive change. Conclusion From 2017 to 2021, the growth of drug income in inpatient income of a tertiary general public hospital in Anhui Province is controlled, but profit-driven income such as laboratory and examination continued to rise, and the income reflecting the labor value of medical staff such as treatment and surgery is low. It is suggested to further optimize and adjust the income structure, speed up the implementation process of “removing cages and replacing birds”, and ensure the healthy development of hospitals.
