Abstract Autophagy is closely related to the development of liver fibrosis. It plays an important role in the hepatic stellate cells activation and affects the development of liver fibrosis through autophagy related proteins and signaling pathways. Many non-coding RNA regulate autophagy exert biological effects in liver fibrosis and may become a new treatment strategy for liver fibrosis. Traditional Chinese medicine can play an anti fibrosis role through the autophagy and regulate autophagy in a dual manner. This paper discusses the traditional Chinese medicine research of autophagy regulation in liver fibrosis, and discusses the shortcomings of the current research, in order to provide a theoretical basis for the further research of autophagy in the prevention and treatment of liver fibrosis with traditional Chinese medicine.
