Abstract Objective To explore the influence of hydrophilic coated catheter on catheterization compliance and acceptance in patients with clean intermittent catheterization. Methods A total of 232 neurogenic patients admitted to West China Hospital of Sichuan University from March to November 2020 were selected as research objects, and randomly divided into the observation group (with hydrophilic coating catheter, 116 cases) and the control group (with ordinary catheter, 116 cases). According to the score results of neurogenic bladder symptom scale (BNSS), intermittent catheterization difficulty questionnaire (ICDQ), intermittent catheterization adherence scale (ICAS) and intermittent catheterization acceptance test (I-CAT), the differences of neurogenic bladder symptoms, intermittent urinary catheterization compliance, acceptance and execution difficulty were observed and compared between the two groups. Results There were no significant differences in urinary incontinence, urinary storage and voiding, outcome score. and total score between the two groups (P>0.05). There was no significant difference in CIC compliance score between the two groups (P>0.05). The scores of multiple worries, self-esteem, and total scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in frequency, degree, and total score between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion Compared with conventional catheters, the use of hydrophilic coated catheters can improve patients’ acceptance of clean intermittent catheterization, and does not affect patients’ compliance.
