Abstract Objective To visually analyze the status of research on manual reduction and small splint fixation for treatment of distal radius fractures, and to predict research hotspots and trends. Methods From January 1, 2000 to February 1, 2022, literature published on the treatment of distal radius fractures with manual reduction and small splint fixation was retrieved from CNKI, Wanfang and VIP databases. The number of annual publications, authors, institutions, and key words were analyzed visually using VOSviewer and CiteSpace software. Results A total of 2 465 articles were included, and 190 articles were published annually on average from 2012 to 2020. About 222 major authors were identified, who constituted 11 research teams. A total of 511 institutions released reports, among which Foshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine published the most. About 528 keywords, 18 clusters and 26 emergent keywords were acquired. The research focus was the pain-relieving and swelling-improving effect of Wenyang Jiangu Decoction and Taohong Siwu Decoction on patients with distal radius fractures. Conclusion During the last two decades, the clinical research on manual reduction and small splint fixation for treatment of distal radius fractures has developed rapidly in China. Senile and osteoporotic fractures are the highlights of future research, but there are still some problems and challenges that need to be addressed.
