Abstract Objective To measure and visualized analysis the literature on tranexamic acid used in total knee arthroplasty based on CiteSpace software. Methods Literature on the application of tranexamic acid in total knee arthroplasty in the Web of Science core collection database was searched from January 2000 to December 2020. Excel 2016 was used to make a descriptive analysis of the included literature, and CiteSpace 5.8.R3 software carried out co-citation analysis of the country/region, institution and author, journal and literature co-citation analysis, and carried out co-occurrence analysis, cluster and breakout analysis of keywords. Results A total of 994 relevant publications were obtained, and the overall trend of tranexamic acid in total knee arthroplasty research was increasing from 2000 to 2020. The highest number of publications were mainly from China and the United States, with Sichuan University being the highest publisher and Fuxing Pei was the most published individual. The most cited journal in this field was J Bone Joint Surg Am, a meta-analysis published by Yang in 2012 was the highest quoted literature. Its keyword clustering can be divided into three categories by induction, which reflect the research hotspots of blood loss, use path and postoperative rehabilitation from the aspects of intraoperative, postoperative, and drug itself respectively. Conclusion The study of tranexamic acid in total knee arthroplasty is generally on the rise, and the research on perioperative blood loss, the route of tranexamic acid use and postoperative rehabilitation are the hotspots in this field and also the future research trends.
