Abstract The “healthy China” strategy elevates safeguarding people’s health to a national strategic level, and medical security is the overall requirement and strong support for the implementation of the strategy. The state attaches great importance to and promotes the development of traditional Chinese medicine. With its extensive cultural and technical content, traditional Chinese medicine should give full play to its unique advantages in preventing and treating diseases, improve people’s health and contribute to the building of a healthy China. Traditional Chinese medicine knowledge is an important part of traditional Chinese medicine. Collecting, sorting out, studying and promoting it and applying it in medical insurance reform can promote it. This paper explains the application of traditional Chinese medicine knowledge in medical insurance reform from the aspects of improving the use efficiency of medical insurance funds, strengthening the role of medical treatment and rehabilitation, enhancing the service level of primary medical institutions to promote hierarchical diagnosis and treatment, strengthening the ability of telemedicine service, promoting the rational application of new artificial intelligence technology, and promoting the development of commercial insurance.
