Abstract Objective To explore the effect of cross-media health education on self-care ability and adaptability of patients with enterostomy. Methods A total of 66 patients with enterostomy admitted to Xuanwu Hospital, Capital Medical University from August 2018 to May 2020 were selected as the research objects. According to the random number table method, the patients were divided into control group and intervention group, control group 35 cases, intervention group 31 cases. The patients in the control group were given routine health education, and the intervention group was given cross-media health education on the basis of the control group. The self-care ability and the level of postoperative psychosocial adaptation were compared one day before discharge, one month after discharge, and three months after discharge. Results The overall analysis found that the differences between the two groups, time points and interaction were statistically significant (P<0.05); further analysis and intra-group comparison: there were statistically significant differences in the scores of self-care ability of the two groups at each time point (P<0.05), comparison between groups: one and three months after discharge, the self-care ability of the intervention group was higher than that of the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05); further analysis and intra-group comparison: the stoma adaptability scores of each time point in the intervention group were compared, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Comparison between groups: one day before and three months after discharge, the stoma adaptability score of the intervention group was higher than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05) Conclusion The cross-media health education can effectively improve the self-care ability of patients with enterostomy, promote early adaptation to the stoma, and improve postoperative quality of life.
