Abstract This paper summarizes the academic value and diagnosis and treatment characteristics reflected in the Complete Works of Chishui Xuanzhu by Sun Yikui, a representative physician in Xin’an area. From the analysis and excavation of the historical prescription medicines, clinical evidence experience, medical theories, and specific medical cases referred to by Sun Shi in the Complete Works of Chishui Xuanzhu, it is concluded that the academic value of the Complete Works of Chishui Xuanzhu is concretely manifested in: the law follows the evidence, the first heavy evidence; evidence-based administration, treatment has positioning; poor reasom and mingxin, medical easy integration; solid foundation peiyuan, prevention and control of transmission of four parts. Sun Yikui is guided by the classical theories of the sages, but some academic ideas transcend the classics and benefit future generations. The Complete Works of Chishui Xuanzhu has high reference value for excavating and sorting out the study of medicine in the motherland, local medicine and guiding clinical practice.
