Abstract This paper summarizes the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus and the clinical research progress of traditional Chinese medicine medical technology in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in recent years, in order to provide theoretical reference and treatment ideas for the clinical application of traditional Chinese medicine medical technology in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, and gives play to the advantages of non-drug therapy with safety and no side effects. In the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, the techniques of traditional Chinese medicine mainly include acupuncture, massage, moxibustion, and minimally invasive techniques of traditional Chinese medicine, while the other techniques are seldom used. Traditional Chinese medicine medical techniques can reduce blood glucose by promoting insulin secretion, improving insulin resistance, correcting lipid metabolism disorder, regulating sympathetic nerve function in islet and other mechanisms, and improve the clinical symptoms of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.
